Summer Holiday Recount

To start off the year we first did a writing task. By doing this writing task we are learning how to recount. I first had to pick a event that I did over the weekends. Then I filled in this sheet but were not allowed to tell where our event was at. This really helped everyone to remember the fun times that they had. It also helped us to use some literary devices.

Remembering our summer holiday
L.I. - Writing to recount
Writing using language features to engage readers

Complete these sentences about an event over the summer holiday. Don’t tell us what the event was just give us enough information that we can know for ourselves.

I felt excited because I could have fun with my family.
I felt sad because it was extremely hot.
I wondered if the boys could feel the burning heat.
I heard people screaming their lungs out.
I saw the little kids running around.
I heard the rides squeaking side to side.
I wondered if people could see my heart beating out of my chest.

Flying Kiwi

On the 23nd of March I was at camp. On that day we got to pick our most enjoyable activity that we had done. I got so excited my heart started pounding and pounding. It was beating so fast I felt like I'd been chased by thousands of dogs! The activities I got to pick from were Archery, High ropes, Orienteering and the flying kiwi. When Mrs Anderson told us about the flying kiwi I thought to myself 'What is the flying kiwi?' Then she told us what this was. I really wanted to do that, so I did!

When the instructors were getting me into the harness I checked if I felt really scared. As soon as the instructors clipped my harness to the rope I knew there was no going back. When the others in my group were pulling me up I regretted my choice on picking this activity. As I reached to the top my eyes were closed. I couldn't open them. I felt like my eyes were stitched to each other! When I finally opened them I could see a magnificent sight. I could see the beautiful trees and bushes. I could also hear the waterfall but as soon as I looked down my heart started racing again. I felt like I was going to fall.

Luckily as the others were lowering me down my heart started to beat slowly and slowly. When my feet touched the ground I felt like I wanted to jump up and down with happiness, but I played it cool even though my friends knew I was almost going to cry at the start.

Today I got to write a recount about something amazing that has happen. This was fun for me because I got to relive my moments from camp. This is a 5 min snapshot of one of my favourite moments at camp.

Recount Elephant toothpaste

On Wednesday the 6th of April at 2 o'clock My class LS1 and Room 5  went to a really exciting experiment at the field in front of the Office. And that really exciting experiment was learning how to make Elephant toothpaste.

As we were walking to the field the sun was burning hot it was like I was in a burning on a hot stove. As we got there we all sat down and waited till the Experiment started when it started they first used First we Add 100 millilitres of Hydrogen Peroxide Then pour a lot of detergent And then we counted up to 5 the Troy add a teaspoon of Potassium
                                    And up
                                  up
iodide then the it went       Then BOOM!!! It exploded everywhere. After this We tried the exact same thing but in a bottle The difference was that the bottle streaked because of the heat niss and it exploded more.Than some students got to touch the experiment then there hands went yellow.
Then We went back to our classes.

I felt Very proud that I got to watch how to make Elephant toothpaste for the first time.
