In maths my group was practicing adding decimals. We did this by rounding and compensating numbers to help us to solve these decimal problems. I have created this DLO to show others how to solve decimal problems. By learning how to solve these decimal problems it can help me to improve and to learn other strategy's.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Ms Kirkpatrick and Mrs Anderson.

How to Tell Analogue Time
To start off the day my class have done writing. In my writing group we were focusing on writing an explanation on how to read analogue time. We all had reminded ourselves on the structure of an explanation. We all shared our hook in our introduction and also shared how we changed it in our conclusion. Next time I will be working on what type of hook I would be using.

Maths Week (Scale Drawing)
Last week was maths week our task for maths week was to create a scale drawing. Each of the students in my class picked an image that was suitable for themselves to draw. I picked an image of a cartoon character from the show "The Simpsons" this characters name is Bart. I chose this image because it seemed like it was just the right level for my art skills. After I had measured and completed my 1 cm grid I enlarged it onto a A3 paper which had a 2 cm grid. I took my time to make sure that everything matched up with the smaller picture. This was the second time I have done this activity and I think that I have done much better than last year. I found the coloring easy but drawing the hair was hard because I would sometimes get mixed up with different squares. If I ever do this task again I would make sure I don't get my coloring close to where my pencil lining is because my coloring will end up smudged.

Kiwi Can
In Kiwi Can our topic was resilience. Our theme was goal setting. We learnt that little goals will help achieve bigger goals and that we have goals to challenge our selves. We first played a game called snatch. There was a rope in a circle and we all around the rope Mr Mat put cones in the middle and once he said go we had to grab a cone from in the middle. Who ever doesn't have a cone has to sit down. Our goal was to follow the rules.

In my group is Jericho, Dallas, Josh and Chris we all worked collaboratively to research this information and to find some photos. We all have learnt a lot about the Cook Islands. Our class has done this task to show our respect as there is a lot of mixed cultures in Auckland and New Zealand and one of those cultures is Cook Island.
